CSIC TP042- Machine, and its method of use, to reproduce the conditions of pressure, temperature and irradiation of any environment or planetary atmosphere under controlled procedures
Researchers working at a Spanish public organisation for scientific research have implemented a machine or installation that allows to reproduce any atmosphere or gaseous ambience under well-controlled conditions of partial pressures in a gases mixture, as well as the temperature and irradiation of a sample. This invention is useful to perform experiments on chemical and/or biochemical reactions related to the solid-gas or liquid-gas interfaces. The inventors are looking for license agreement

DESCRIPTION

The invention’s prototype is made up of the following elements:

a) a process chamber with,

b) low vacuum generation system, nd,

c) high or atmospheric pressure generation system,

d) control gauges and due measurement equipment of the previous properties,

e) a sample holder with cryostat and feeding arm,

f) radiation sources,

g) controlled gases feedings and their analysis system,

h) analytical equipment (IR and UV) for the preparing samples.

The expected ranges of the process chamber pressure and temperature of the sample are, respectively, from 1000 mbar to 5x10-9 mbar and from 4 ºK until 325 ºK.

The applications of this installation are widespread. It can easily simulate the Earth atmospheric conditions (cases like environmental studies, catalysers or material sciences), outer space (aeronautics, astronautics, material testing under extreme conditions) and even other atmospheres like those found on planets or satellites of the Solar System (applications in astrobiology and astrochemistry).

The most remarkable and innovative aspect of this offer is that it complies with a great number of practical possibilities in a single installation. This is the first machine designed to perform with these so broad objectives and sets up the ideal solution to enhance the performance of new-generation atmosphere simulators
