CSIC NM007- A new white cement made with low energy consumption with sr/mr properties.
This is a new white cement with a marked improvement in the heating efficiency of the manufacturing process compared to the manufacture of conventional white cements. This results in a considerable reduction in energy consumption.
Specification sheet:
DESCRIPTION

The new white cement has a different chemical and mineral composition compared with traditional white cement mainly due to the absence of calcium aluminates. These differences are responsible for the resistant properties of this cement in aggressive marine and sulphate environments. None of the white cements currently manufactured are stable in these environments and they disintegrate in relatively short exposure times (less than 30 to 50 days).

Manufacture of cements, mortars and concrete with this new material uses identical conditions to conventional cement manufacture and does not require any special technique or handling. Like commercial cements, these too can be combined with different active compounds (fly ash, pozzolane, blast furnace slags, silica fume) to develop other cements with modified and improved properties. Finally, handling of the new cements is identical to that of current commercial cements.

INNOVATIVE ASPECTS

This new white cement has excellent mechanical properties and presents a resistance to aggressive environments not shown by traditional white cements.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

Obtention of this new white cement requires a lower energy consumption (approximately 10%) than the traditional cement manufacturing process.

Manufacture of conventional white cement requires a high energy consumption (much more than a grey cement) due to the lower proportion of fluxing oxides (especially iron) which results in their requirement of higher clinkerisation temperatures.
