CSIC TIC007- Method to calculate the crystalline parameterised genetic algorithm, and its use
A team of scientists in a Spanish public organisation has developed a method to calculate surface structures using a modified genetic algorithm. The main feature of this novelty is an approach to the phenotype (surface structure) and to the genotype (genetic information) using real codification, that is, each gene corresponds directly to the value of the parameter that represents. The inventors are looking for companies involved in data analysis interested in licensing that patent
Specification sheet:
DESCRIPTION
This invention is a new method to calculate the crystalline parameters of any solid surface. It is based on a modified genetic algorithm. This invention improves the method currently used, by allowing researchers not having to provide previous knowledge and does not have to guide the process constantly. Also, it significantly reduces the processing time (range of days).
INNOVATIVE ASPECTS
The genetic algorithms have been used so far for determination of crystalline structures in volumes. This patent of invention presents a method to do it in solid surfaces. Other innovative aspects are: it modifies mutation operator, periodic evaluation of the fitness gradient, and, it separates schedule for optimisation of non-structural arrays
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
Operation becomes shorter. This method uses data collected in the laboratory by means of experimental techniques of research in surface physics, as they are: the low energy electron diffraction (LEED) or, the surface X-rays diffraction (SXRD), or one combination of both
